Teaching Programmes
The School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon offers teaching programmes in Comparative Studies in all levels of higher education: BA, MA and PhD. The 2nd and 3rd cycles are included in the Programme in Comparative Studies (PEC).
The teaching programmes are also carried out within the framework of the CEC’s research projects, through which free courses and accredited training courses are regularly organized for students, teachers and the general public.
BA in Comparative Studies
The BA in Comparative Studies offered at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, is focused on a new comparative approach to knowledge traditionally present in the curricula of the School of Arts and Humanities: Literary and Cultural Studies, as well as Art History and Language Learning.

Programme in Comparative Studies (PEC)
The graduate Programme in Comparative Studies from the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, offers Master and PhD degrees (2nd and 3rd cycles) that aim at providing students with advanced training in Comparative Studies. Research is encouraged on the relations between texts, art forms, different media, cultural contexts and modes of knowledge.

MA in Comparative Studies
The MA in Comparative Studies offered at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon consists of two components: a curricular course corresponding to the postgraduate diploma (60 ECTS, year 1) and a methodological course to support the preparation of the dissertation, culminating in its defense at the end of year 2 (60 ECTS, year 2). The Master is part of the interdepartmental programme in Comparative Studies, created in 1991 under the heading of Comparative Literature, and offers a pedagogical and scientific environment for the investigation of relationships: between texts, between art forms, between different media, between contexts cultural, between modes of knowledge.

International FCT PhD Programme in Comparative Studies (PhD-COMP)
The PhD in Comparative Studies (PhD-COMP) is a joint programme involving four institutions: the Programme in Comparative Studies (PEC) and the Centre for Comparative Studies (CEC), both based at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, and the Universities of Leuven and Bologna. It aims to offer advanced international training in Comparative Studies building on an innovative articulation between research, mobility and pedagogical activities.
