Maria Inês Robalo holds a BA in Arts and Humanities and a Master in Comparative Studies from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. She was awarded a doctoral FCT fellowship in the scope of the International PhD Programme in
Comparative Studies (U. Lisbon, Catholic U. Leuven and U. Bologna). Her doctoral project focuses on the relations between literature and material culture during the second half of the 19th century, especially in the oeuvre of George Eliot, Henry James and Theodor Fontane. At the Centre for Comparative Studies she carries out her research in the scope of two groups: RIAL – Reality and Imagination in Art and Literature and Aesthetics of Memory and Emotion.
