International Conference Portuguese Orientalism(s) – CFP
Dates: Novembro 22 – 24, 2018
Deadline for submission of proposals: May 1, 2018
Venue: University of Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities
The International Conference Portuguese Orientalism(s) welcomes works that examine the impact of the scientific trajectories and institutional affiliations of a Portuguese orientalist intelligentsia on their discursive constructions of the so-called Orient. How this field of scientific and intellectual production (the so-called scholarly literature) intersected with the field of cultural production is also an issue this conference intends to address by giving visibility to the agents operating in each field and the networks they established or were engaged in.
