Machado (PhD, Univ. de Paris-Sorbonne\/Paris IV, 2008) is an Assistant Researcher at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses of the Department of Romance Literatures, since 2011. Formerly he has taught Portuguese and Brazilian Literature and Culture at the University of Paris-Sorbonne\/Paris IV (2003-2004) and the University Lumi\u00e8re Lyon 2 (2009-2010). Full Member of the Center for Comparative Studies (CEC), he is the coordinator of the collective research project \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/cec.letras.ulisboa.pt\/en\/2010\/02\/22\/portuguese-orientalism\/\">Portuguese Orientalism<\/a>\u201d. At the Center for Comparative Studies he has also developed, from 2010 to 2013, a post-doctoral research on Goan Literature in Portuguese. Currently he conducts the exploratory project \u201cThe Portuguese Representations of India: Power and Knowledge in a Peripheral Orientalism (19th and 20th centuries)\u201d, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology of Portugal (FCT).
