Main areas of interest centre on the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as theoretical issues in comparative and world literature. She regularly collaborates with foreign Universities in Europe, the US, Brazil, Beijing and Macao, as Visiting Professor or Researcher, and she has more than one hundred essays published, in both Portuguese and international periodicals. She founded and directed, for 15 years, the research Centre of Comparative Studies (U Lisboa) and has been a member of executive boards such as\u00a0 the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA), the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI), the Institute of World Literature (IWL), and the European Science Foundation (ESF).\u00a0 Main books include: <em>Incid\u00eancias do Olhar.
