Biographical note<\/b><\/p>\n

\"HelenaHelena Carvalh\u00e3o Buescu is a professor of Comparative Literature at U Lisboa. Main areas of interest centre on the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as theoretical issues in comparative and world literature. She regularly collaborates with foreign Universities in Europe, the US, Brazil, Beijing and Macao, as Visiting Professor or Researcher, and she has more than one hundred essays published, in both Portuguese and international periodicals. She founded and directed, for 15 years, the research Centre of Comparative Studies (U Lisboa) and has been a member of executive boards such as\u00a0 the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA), the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI), the Institute of World Literature (IWL), and the European Science Foundation (ESF).\u00a0 Main books include: Incid\u00eancias do Olhar. Percep\u00e7\u00e3o e Representa\u00e7\u00e3o<\/em> (1990); editor of Dicion\u00e1rio do Romantismo Liter\u00e1rio Portugu\u00eas<\/em> (1997); Em Busca do Autor Perdido<\/em> (1998); co-editor of A Revisionary History of Portuguese Literature<\/em> (Garland, 1999); Chiaroscuro. Modernidade e Literatura<\/em> (2001); Grande Angular. Comparatismo e Pr\u00e1ticas de Compara\u00e7\u00e3o<\/em> (2001), Cristaliza\u00e7\u00f5es.Fronteiras da Modernidade<\/em> (2005); co-editor of O Grande Terramoto de Lisboa. Ficar Diferente<\/em> (2005); Emendar a Morte. Pactos em Literatura<\/em> (2008); Experi\u00eancia do Incomum e Boa Vizinhan\u00e7a<\/em>. Literatura Comparada e Literatura-Mundo<\/em>, (2013).
