The centuries-old relationship between these countries has never been thoroughly studied from the viewpoint of translation. Hence, this chronology is a first attempt to map the history of translation practice and interactions between both systems. It seeks to build bridges of cultural, historical and literary understanding between Portugal and Japan through translation understood as image making and manipulation of cultural contact.
