In 2019 we celebrate the centennial aniversary of the birth of FERNANDO NAMORA (1919 – 1989), doctor and writer, fundamental figure in the Portuguese Neo-Realism. In the 1930s and 1940s, Namora was linked to the beginning of the movement known as “Novo Cancioneiro” and “Novo prosadores”. The work encompasses poetry, fiction (short story, novel and romance) and diaristic writing, establishing him as one of the most important authors of the twentieth century. As part of this commemoration, in a collaboration between the Fernando Namora House Museum (Condeixa), the Museum of Neo-Realism (V.F.Xira), and the Center for Comparative Studies (School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon), during the 24th, 25th and 26th of October 2019 the congress FERNANDO NAMORA – “E NÃO SEI SE O MUNDO NASCEU” will take place. This congress will integrate the activities of the CEC / Morphe Group / Textualities project.
