angBiographical note

Ângela Fernandes is Assistant Professor at the Department of Romance Literatures of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. In 2009, she received her PhD in Literary Theory from the University of Lisbon. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on Literary Theory, Comparative Literature and Hispanic Studies. She has been visiting professor at Indiana University – Bloomington (USA), Goettingen (Germany), Paris 7- Diderot (France) and Salzburg (Austria).

At the Centre for Comparative Studies, she coordinates the research project DIIA, on Iberian and Ibero-american literary and cultural dialogues. Since August 2016, she has been the director of PhD-COMP – International FCT PhD Programme in Comparative Studies (Universities of Lisbon, Bologna and Leuven). She was previously Vice-director of the Centre for Comparative Studies (2011-2013) and Assistant Dean for Research of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (2014-2016).
